Dengue symptoms similar to covid-19; experts suggest vigilance

Healthcare experts suggest panic may arise with similar symptoms of dengue and covid-19 among other seasonal ailments. Suggestion to take extra cautions as the healthcare system may deteriorate with added pressure. Confusion of the two could cause havoc for the patients during the current season.



Deputy District Health Officer Karachi East, Dr Anila Qureshi urged people to spread awareness to prevent the spread of the dengue in order to collectively deal with the current corona scenario. Precautions and preventions such as avoiding stagnation of water are being made.





With the covid-19 positivity rate slashing up to 7.46 per cent with 2,756 cases in the last 24 hours, all educational institutes are to be shut from November 26, 2020 to December 24, 2020, announced the Education Minister, Shafqat Mahmood. He also announced winter vacation to start from December 25, 2020 till January 10, 2021. Making the action compulsory to all educational institutes, he tweeted:







A review session would be held in the first week of January in order to determine the course of action for reopening educational institutions.



 




The hospitalization of covid-19 patients has doubled across the country while the recovery rate is 87.8 per cent. The total cases reported have reached 376,929 with 330,885 recoveries and 7,696 deaths. Standard operating procedures (SOPs) are strictly imposed while smart lockdown is practiced in hot spots across the country.
